Decentralisation Seminar

IDASA in collaboration with the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) have been engaged in a collaborative effort in support of Regional Research Project on Decentralisation to achieve more intensive advocacy for, and active involvement by civil society , since decentralisation is seen as an effective tool to achieve better governance, strengthen local democracy increase citizen’s participation and improve the quality of public service delivery.

Under the co-ordination of IDASA as peer organisation, a series of country surveys were conducted by local civil society organisations in South Africa, Mozambique, Tanzania, Namibia, Lesotho, Malawi, Botswana and Zimbabwe. A regional seminar is planned to share experiences and disseminate findings and ideas emerging from the surveys and project implementation.
